The canopy was observed going up today outside of Al's Cafe on DuPage Court in Downtown Elgin. It is a sure sign that spring is here and summer is imminent.
In previous years, the tent was larger. It appears there will be both covered and open air seating this year.
In all likelihood, one of the reasons is likely to be easier access by the wait staff to the tables. It was often tight inside the area, and it was difficult at times to navigate through the maze of tables.
Additionally, in front of the restaurant, one of the ash trees that was removed last fall in the removal project was not replaced (as noted in previous posts in this blog: http://emanationsfromchicagostreetelgin.blogspot.com/2012/04/ash-trees.html
